Tobacco ringspot virus (TRSV) is the type member of the genus Nepovirus within the family Secoviridae. It has isometric particles of approximately 28 nm and is readily transmitted by sap inoculation. It is transmitted in nature by the nematode vector Xiphinema americanum and closely related Xiphinema species.
